About Me

Hello! My name is Emma Barron. I’m an editor with a bachelor’s in English from the University of Michigan and a master’s in education from Northern Michigan University. I currently live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

I love to read and write for the joy of it. My favorite genres are horror and YA, but I’ll read anything! I’ve dabbled in different genres in my writing as well; I’ve written anything from romance to psychological thrillers.

What I bring to your manuscript or essay:

  • An author-first approach: While I know what keeps the pages turning for a reader, I want to preserve YOUR voice as a writer.

  • An educator’s eye: Training in pedagogy taught me how to give feedback that’s clear, constructive, and actually usable. I’ll show you what needs improvement and how to fix it. I give fair but honest constructive criticism that’s actionable.

  • Genre fluency: From creepy atmospheres to authentic voices and emotional arcs, I understand the different beats readers expect across many genres and how to surprise them in the best ways!

  • A champion for independent authors: I understand the hustle of self-publishing. I can help you shape a manuscript that rivals traditionally published releases.

Why pick me over someone else?

  • I combine literary training with classroom-tested communication. That means I will utilize my editorial instincts plus feedback you can actually use.

  • I love the weird corners of genre and the brave decisions indie authors make. I’ll preserve your distinct voice while ensuring clarity and grammatical perfection.

  • I care about your book as much as you do. I am always willing to work with authors (whether published, self-published, or unpublished) to ensure you receive strategic edits that will be delivered with empathy and in an affordable price range.
